Gorilla trekking in Uganda is possible throughout the year.

However, many travelers prefer the relatively drier periods because forest trails can be easier to navigate.

The wetter months can also provide a rewarding experience, with lush vegetation and fewer visitors.

Rather than focusing only on weather, we recommend choosing your travel dates based on gorilla permit availability, your preferred travel schedule and overall Uganda safari plans.

 Conservation & Responsible Tourism

Gorilla Conservation in Uganda

Gorilla tourism plays an important role in supporting conservation and surrounding communities.

Uganda Wildlife Authority operates a revenue-sharing program in which communities surrounding national parks benefit from tourism revenue. At Bwindi, UWA also allocates a portion of gorilla permit revenue toward community conservation initiatives.
